The college application process is no picnic. High school students are getting their first glimpse into the competitive atmosphere of the real world and understanding how they’ll be judged based on prior accomplishments and accolades. On top of all that, they’re expected to pick the school they want to (potentially) spend the next four years of their life at. As complicated as the college application process can be, we’ve broken it down into some simple steps.
The College Application Process
This process requires high school students to step outside of their comfort zone and start making decisions for themselves.
That’s right! There are deadlines to stick to, required tests to take, documents to gather, and big decisions to make. While parents can be a huge help throughout this process, a lot of the burden falls to you — the student.
Notes on Choosing the Right College or University
Choosing a school is going to be one of the most significant decisions you make over the next few years. It’s imperative to think through what’s important to you, what you want to study, and the atmosphere you do best in.
While it’s great to have aspirations of jetting off to the big city and wandering the streets at night, for some people a huge, sudden change can be wildly overwhelming.
Talk to your friends and family, spend some time getting to know yourself, and write done the thoughts and feelings that come to you as you navigate the college process.
In the end, you’re likely to find that you’ve made the right decision for you, and that’s what matters most. Good luck on your college journey! We know you’re going to do great!
