Can college students get Amazon Prime for Free?

It’s no secret that college is expensive. Luckily, many companies recognize the college student struggle and offer a discount on their products or services.

Amazon is one of those companies. They offer a cheaper version of Amazon Prime to college students called Amazon Student.

How does it work?

Any student with a .edu email address, enrolled in at least one college course located within one of the 50 United States, The District of Columbia, or Puerto Rico, is eligible for a six-month free trial. Once the free trial is over, students will have the option to continue their membership for $6.49 per month.

In addition to the monthly discount, students are not locked into a yearly contract but can cancel or pause their membership at any time.

The Perks

Quick Delivery

Just like with Amazon Prime, students are eligible for free two-day delivery. So rather than begging a friend for a ride to the store, or having to take an Uber, students can get what they need delivered right to their dorm or apartment. In select cities, students are even eligible for 2-hour delivery from local stores!

Student Only Shopping

With an Amazon Student membership, students can access the Off-to-College Store. This online store provides discounted access to items commonly purchased by college students.

Grocery Delivery

Students gain access to Amazon Fresh and Amazon Pantry, which both give access to fast and free delivery. Now students can spend more time in class, studying, or hanging out with friends without having to worry about going to the grocery store.

Music Streaming

Amazon offers two types of music streaming. One, called Prime Music, is included with the monthly membership. The other, called Music Unlimited, comes with a monthly fee of $0.99.

These services are virtually identical except the paid version has a database of over 50-million songs, while the free has roughly 2-million.

Video Streaming

Have you ever spent more time searching for something to watch on Netflix than actually watching? This could be a great solution! Amazon Student also offers a streaming service for Prime Original shows, free movies, free series, and movie rentals.

Your viewing options can double with little to no cost.

Textbook rental

Textbooks are expensive, and there’s a good possibility you won’t need them after you complete the course you bought it for.

Textbook rental via Amazon is a great option. You can rent or purchase textbooks at a discounted price, and they’ll arrive at your doorstep in only 2-days. Students also have the option to purchase and sell textbooks without having to pay for shipping.

Of all the student discounts out there, Amazon Student seems to be the one with the most to offer. Not only saving students money but also saving their time with quick delivery.

So, take advantage of it while you can!
