The College Dorm Room Checklist to Make Move-In Day Easier Than Ever

Move-in Day is a big deal for students and their families. For the student, it may be the first time they’re living away from home. Everyone is excited but nervous (which is entirely okay).

Many describe Move-in Day as a “hectic day” due to all the activities going on. Between the often long travel time, carrying things around, packing, unpacking, and campus activities — it’s a lot for a first-time college student to take in.

Before you start buying things, we recommend reading the instructions your school provided for Move-in Day. Pay close attention to check-in times, locations, and item restrictions. Every school has a list of items students are not allowed to bring to their dorm. Learning early on about these restrictions will help make move-in day easier.

Dorm-room items can be costly, so we don’t expect you to buy everything on this checklist. Maybe consider bringing things from home and/or only buying things you need. To save on some items on this checklist, visit https://www.unigo.com. Unigo offers access to a wide variety of stores’ discounts exclusively for college students.

It takes a lot to get ready for the big day, but it’s not impossible. We hope this checklist makes your move-in experience much more enjoyable!
