The Grand Canyon State offers financial aid opportunities to Arizona residents including grants and scholarship programs. The first step to an affordable college education is filing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, FAFSA®.

Arizona Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (AzLEAP)
This Arizona Commission for Postsecondary Education (ACPE) sponsored financial aid program offers assistance to students who demonstrate financial need. The maximum amount of assistance provided each year is $2,500. However, on average, students are awarded $1,000 per year. To be eligible, students must meet the following requirements:
- Must be a US citizen or eligible non-citizen
- Must be an Arizona state resident
- Have to be enrolled at least half-time in school
- Must maintain Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP)
To apply, all students must file the FAFSA®, award amounts are determined by the student’s college or university.
Arizona Teacher Student Loan Program
This need-based student loan program is forgivable and was created to encourage students to pursue a career in teaching in Arizona public schools. The maximum forgivable loan award is $7,000 per year, for three years.
To apply, students must complete the FAFSA® and fill out a yearly loan application.
In addition to the financial aid listed above, Arizona colleges and universities offer financial assistance to Arizona state residents that is not available for out-of-state students.
